WHY DO I NEED SPIRITUAL GROWTH

Hebrews 5:12(For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For everyone that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 but strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil).

Life is a battlefield and in every battle only the skilled fighter can become a champion. Growth is part of life; every living thing that God created is expected to grow from one level to another. It becomes a problem when something that needs to grow refuses to grow.  Every living thing goes through stages of development the same apply to our relationship with God. We can’t afford to remain a spiritual babe drinking only milk. You need to develop strong teeth for strong meat. If a child is not growing it will become a concern and a burden to his parent and they will be looking for a solution everywhere. Children are a blessing from God. Proverbs 10:22(The blessing of LORD, it maketh rich and he added no sorrow with it). If we as children of God refuse to grow it become a concern to God. It is a sad situation. It means that Jesus Christ labored in vain. I pray that you will not be a concern to God in Jesus name. We have inheritance in Christ Jesus and the only way we can access it, is by proving that we have matured enough to handle it. Revelation 5:12(Saying with a loud voice, worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing). You can see why he will be concerned if after we have accepted him as our Lord and savior we are still wallowing in poverty, sickness and etc. when he knew we are not meant to because he has paid the price. Jesus Christ fought Satan to recover our stolen inheritance from him. Satan is not happy that we have escaped so he will try to block us from accessing our inheritance. It is our responsibility to make sure he did not succeed by developing ourselves in the word of God. God said that he will make us his sharp threshing instrument. Isaiah 41:15(Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff). If you are not growing teeth, you would not be able to thresh mountain and move forward to possess your possession. A young lion suffers hunger because he is unskilled (Psalm 34:10). So it is for your own good to grow in the word of God if not you will remain in lack and want. The bible is a book of covenant. To lay hold on our inheritance we need to play our own part. There is something we need to do in order to possess our possession. For example our inheritance of riches requires that we should give and it shall be given unto us (Luke 6:38). And that we should serve God with all our heart and our soul. Job 36:11(if they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasure). For us to really grow in this kingdom the place of studying cannot be ignored.  Moses advises Joshua to study the book of the law (Joshua 1:8) and Paul advises Timothy to study. 1 Timothy 2:15(Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth). When God approves your effort your breakthrough cannot be denied. The scripture said that Satan has blinded them that believe not (2 Corinthians 4:4). Friends, you need to deliver yourself from his blind folding power by accepting Jesus today if you have not and your eyes of understanding shall be open in Jesus name.

ABIDING IN THE VINE (KEY TO YOUR TOTAL FREEDOM) JOHN 15:1-16

John 15:1(I am the true vine and my father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit he purgeth it that it may bring forth more fruit. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 6 If a man abide not in me he is cast forth as a branch, and is withere; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned).5b for without me you can do nothing.

When we have the right key in our hand our access is undeniable. In the journey of destiny the key to our total and complete freedom is to continue to abide in the vine.  For a branch to bear fruit, it needs to attach itself to the vine because no branch can survive on its own. Jesus Christ is the true vine, we are the branch and without him we cannot bear fruit worthy of repentance (Luke 3:8). The only way to be totally free from the powers that are opposing our greatness and glorious destiny is to attach ourselves to him. We cannot afford to stand on our own; it is very risky not only are we going to be vulnerable to the enemy, God himself will cut us off and cast us into the fire, but that will not be you in Jesus name. If we continue to abide in the vine and bear good fruit God will continue to supply us with power and the anointing to overcome every obstacle on our way. Roman 8:31b says if God be for us who can be against us? You may ask, but Nene, how do I abide in him?  Here is your answer. John 15:9(As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. 12 This is my commandment, that ye love one another as I have loved you). Love for God and love for one another is the requirement if we must continue to abide in him. When you love someone you will try to please him the same is applied in our relationship with God. Jesus said that his father is always with him because he does what pleases him. The desire to please God should be our priority as a redeemed child of God because that is the only way we can remain connected. If you carry God's presence every obstacle will automatically clear off your way (Psalm 24:7). Galatians 5:22(But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 meekness, temperance: against such there is no law). If you are born of the Spirit you are expected to bear the fruit of the spirit because “like beget like” It is an abomination for a mango tree to bear cashew fruit. The manifestation of this fruit of the Spirit in the life of a believer is the proof that he or she is connected and it also meant to draw others to the kingdom of God.  You cannot be a lover of the world and claim to love God at the same time. You need to choose a side. Galatian 5:19-21 paraphrasing, Now the work of the flesh are manifest which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife, envying, murders, drunkenness and many more. You cannot abide in him except you are born of the Spirit neither can you bear the fruit of the Spirit. John 3:6(That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit). The decision is yours; choose to abide in him today by praying this simple prayer.

A VESSEL OF HONOR

2 Timothy 2:20(But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor and some to dishonor. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work).

In the journey of life we need divine visitation if we must make progress. Divine visitation requires preparation and sanctification. God is not partial; he just follows spiritual principles. He set the rules and followed the rules.  We are the vessel, and we need to be filled with his spirit to function perfectly. God is our maker, he is the potter and we are the clay and the power to change us is in his hand but we have to show willingness. We are made to understand that God does not use every vessel in his house because the vessels are not the same. He also tells us that we can make ourselves available to be used by him if only we clean up and position ourselves for re-molding. If you are expecting a VIP in your house, no matter how clean your house is, you still need to do some touch up cleaning and preparation. In this case no VIP is greater than God that means we need extra cleaning before we can invite him. There is this testimony of a particular sister that kept praying to God to use her. She said one day during service she wanted to use the restroom but she couldn’t use it because it was messed up, so she left immediately. On her way God spoke to her and said what happened that she did not use the restroom? And that is the same reason why he could not use her. So many times God has tried to use us one way or the other to do his job but find it difficult to access us because of the position we put ourselves. He said be Holy because I am holy. We deprive ourselves of so many good things if we refuse to clean up. I am sure nobody wants to be a vessel of dishonor. We need to distinguish ourselves in order to get God attention. 2 Corinthians 6:17(Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters saith the Lord Almighty). The choice to be a vessel of honor is ours to make because he said if any man purges himself he shall be a vessel of honor. 1 Timothy 2:22(Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness faith, charity, peace with them that call on the Lord out of pure heart. 23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid knowing that they do gender strife). To be a vessel of honor we need to cleanse ourselves and stay away from every form of unrighteousness. If we are willing to take responsibility God is faithful to release all the grace that we need to succeed. It is not by might nor by power but by the Spirit of God (Zechariah 4:6). Friends, this prayer will help you. It is my favorite prayer and it works. I know where I used to be. Ask God to purge you today by the blood of Jesus and that you are ready to be clay in his hand ready to be re- molded. Hebrews 9:14(How much more shall the blood of Christ who through the eternal Spirit offer himself without spot to God purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?). The good news is that Jesus Christ has offered himself for our cleansing and sanctification. All you have to do is to accept and receive him as your Lord and savior which is the first step and it also guarantees your access to his blood.

BE SPIRITUALLY DESPERATE (EXAMPLE OF HANNAH) 1 SAMUEL 1 AND 2

1 Samuel 1:15(And Hannah answer and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD. 16 Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grieve have I spoken hitherto. 17 Then Eli said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him).

The race of destiny requires spiritual desperation to win. In my studies of the scripture I came to understand that only those who are desperate get their problem solved by God. Does God deny his children good things? No, God forbid. Sometimes he wants us to develop strong teeth for the meat so that we can handle what he is going to commission into our hand (Hebrews 5:12-14). For our story or situation to change we really need to show desperation. You don’t need to be comfortable with your situation because in the beginning it was not so (Matthew 19:8b). In the beginning God blessed them and said be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth (Genesis 1:28). Only those who ask questions are entitled to answer. The question should be if it was not so from the beginning why is my own case different? As you begin to search for answers you will get to understand so many other things that will eventually help you in the journey of life. The bible describes Zachariah the high priest and his wife Elizabeth a holy and a righteous people yet Elizabeth was barren for many years (Luke 1:5-13, 76). The child she later gave birth to was a fore runner for the messiah (Jesus Christ). They did not quit serving God because of their situation, their answer came to them at their duty post. Imagine if they decided not to be there that very day. I pray for someone reading this, you will not be found absent on your appointed day in Jesus name.

Our case study today is Hannah; she was barren and mocked by her co wife Peninnah (1 Samuel 1:6-7). She got tired of her situation and presented it to God in prayer. She was not doing anything about it before, rather she will cry and complain to her husband and that complicates her issue. God does not like it when we complain, those who complain in the wilderness get destroyed but that will not be you in Jesus name. It keeps God away from us and when he is not close to us our problem will remain. Hannah went to God with desperation that even Eli the priest thought she was drunk and she said no that she was a desperate woman that needs a change of story. Eli put a seal on her request and God visited her.  The scripture said, and the LORD remembered her (1 Samuel 1:19). That means her voice needed to be heard in heaven for her story to change. I don’t know which area of your life you need a change of story as your voice is heard today; God will open his book of remembrance in your favor in Jesus name. In her quest for solution she stumbles into the mystery of vow. She vowed to give God the child and that she will not allow razor to touch his head (1 Samuel 1:11). God answered her and today we cannot forget the role that Samuel played in the bible. Hannah proved to God that she has acquired enough knowledge to conceive and raise a destiny child. Friends, your Samuel is closer than you think if you will just get spiritually desperate. Hannah has to stop crying and complaining. Zechariah and Elizabeth maintain their service to God. Search yourself and see where you need some adjustment and your story will change in Jesus name. Hannah went to Shiloh to meet with God, which means there was a relationship. In case you have not entered into a relationship with God and you want to, here is your chance and if your relationship with God has broken you can amend it today by praying this simple prayer of salvation.

KEEP YOUR LIGHT SHINING

Matthew 5:14(ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven).

As a believer, we are redeemed as light to the world (Colossians 1:13). You are to give light to the world not the other way round. The number one target of the enemy in this battle of destiny is to switch off your light because as long as your light is shining they won’t be able to defeat you. Our victory is defined by the quality of our light. You will not be defeated in Jesus name. The scripture describes us as a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden. You can’t hide from the world. The world is darkness so as soon as light shows up they will see it. The good news is, the dominion of light over darkness is unquestionable; we are ordained to dominate and to rule over darkness. Life is a battle and to win this battle as the children of the light, your light has to continue to shine brighter until Jesus comes. Proverbs 4:18(But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day). We are ordained to make a difference in our endeavor.  Our attitude and behavior are meant to draw men to the light, the bible teaches us that our light is meant to attract those who are in the dark. They are to see light in our light (Psalm 36:9) When you carry light you don’t need to make noise because it announces itself. We are to bring glory to God by lightning the way for others. Don’t go along to get along instead get them to come along. The enemy of our light is very subtle; we are not fighting flesh and blood but our fight is against the ruler of darkness of this world (Ephesians 6:12). Since we don’t live in isolation all we have to do is to keep our light shining for them to see and come into it. A friend of mine had a dream where some thieves came to steal his bible; he fought them and defeated them. We all know who the thief is, he wants to do away with his light (John 10:10). The bible is the word of God (John 1:1-5).The word is God himself and the entrance of God’s word gives light (Psalm 119:130). To keep our light shining we need more and more of God’s word. God himself was challenged by darkness but he conquers by the spoken word. He said let there be light and there was light. Genesis 1:2(And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 and God said let there be light and there was light). He created us in his own image which means power to generate light is in us too. Darkness will always give way for the light. I don’t know which area of your life you are facing challenges, is it your health, career, academic and business, and etc. All you need is light and understanding in those areas and you will see changes in Jesus name. When Jesus told Satan that it is written he was releasing light from the word of God to swallow his darkness. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the water. This means you need the Spirit of God to generate light. John 3:6(That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit). Friends, in case you are not yet born of the Spirit, here is another opportunity to do so and be blessed in Jesus name.

OVERCOMING PERSECUTION PART 2 (EXAMPLE OF JESUS)

 HOW DID JESUS CHRIST OVERCOME PERSECUTION?

Hebrews 12:2(Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at right hand of the throne of God). 2 Timothy 4:7(I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing).

Persecution is an unavoidable aspect of our journey in the race of destiny. It is very important for us to prepare ourselves to overcome because that’s the only way we can make it to the finish line. Jesus Christ is our perfect example in this race and he overcame persecution. He boldly declares that it is finished (John 19:30). Paul also said that he has fought a good fight of faith, finished his course and is ready to receive his crown. So it is all about enthronement. I pray for someone reading this, you will receive your crown in Jesus name.  

1) He overcame persecution by the word of God; he knew who he was from the book of Isaiah that he was sent to set people free and to be killed. He was not taken by surprise. If we do the same, we will have the same result (Isaiah 53, Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:17-20).

2) He was always in the spirit and followed divine instruction from the Father. John 8:28(Then said Jesus unto them, when ye have lifted up the son of man, then shall you know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself, but as my father hath taught me, I speak these things). Spiritual sensitivity and total obedience to divine instruction is required.  

3) He has the presence of God with him always because he does what pleases God (John 8:29).

4) He prayed and fasted often (Matthew 26:36, Luke 4:2, Matthew 17:21). You need power to prevail and this power is generated on the altar of prayer and fasting. Those who crucified Jesus met him at the place of prayer, so he has acquired enough power to go through the cross.

5) He has his focus on the throne that awaits him and nothing in this world entices him (Hebrews 12:2).Our focus has to be on the goal.

Apostle Paul went through the worst persecution but God delivered him from them all. He wrote half of the New Testament from the prison. He enjoyed the persecution and turned it to his advantage. That is what I like about Paul. He masters the act of turning the bad situation against Satan. Even inside the prison with Silas he sang praises to God and miracles happened, not only was he set free but his action set others free, that’s how to overcome persecution. He wrestles with the accuser of brethren that keeps accusing him anywhere he goes and defeats him. Satan keeps making the same mistake over and over again it makes me wonder. What can I say; he is just doing his job of accusing the brethren. All you have to do is to hold on to your assignment and keep running while looking unto Jesus our perfect example. Paul was a persecutor of the early Church until he encountered Jesus and his story change. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 3:8). His hand is stretch out to receive you, take a bold step and encounter destiny today in Jesus name

OVERCOMING PERSECUTION PART 1: THE EXAMPLE OF JESUS

Hebrews 12:2(Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds).

WHAT IS PERSECUTION ALL ABOUT?

Persecution simply means Satan trying to discredit the plan and purpose of God for your life and destiny. It means casting dirt on your identity. It is a weapon of distraction used by Satan and his agent to stop a man or woman on a mission in order to stop them from getting to their destination. If greatness is what you desire, then persecution is unavoidable; all you need to do is to prepare yourself to enjoy it. Believe that it is part of your journey and keep a forgiving heart that is one way to overcome persecution. Jesus Christ said, Father forgive them for they don’t know what they do (Luke 23:34). He was actually doing himself a favor because unforgiveness is a sin and can send us to hell.  Jesus knew from the beginning that he was going to be persecuted and he was ready for it. He knows who he was and understands his assignment, whether you persecute him, believes him or not is your own problem. Having the knowledge of who you are and your assignment will help you to focus.  He was so focused that he could smell a distraction from distance. God expects the same attitude from us. God said we should look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.   You can’t allow yourself to dwell on it; it’s meant to set you back.  It works both ways, to stop the beneficiary of your assignment from accessing the truth and to stop you from advancing in your assignment. The choice is for each party to decide on what they want to do. They will try to convince the people that they know what they are talking about and yet they know nothing about you and your mission. They are actually carrying out their own assignment given to them by their master. So allow them to do their job. In Jesus' prayer for his disciples, he said the world hates him and they will hate us also, why then looking for love from the world. Those who go looking for love everywhere are always a victim of persecution because the world has no love for them instead they receive grief. John 17:14(I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world).You may ask, Nene, but how did Jesus Christ overcome persecution? I will answer your question in the second segment; please don’t miss it.

Sometimes persecution can be very painful and disheartening considering the source. Jesus cried to the father, to take the cup away from him if possible and if not let God's will be done (Matthew 26:39-42). A seed they said will not produce until it falls to the ground, die, rise again and then produce more fruit. I don’t know what you may be passing through right now; I pray that God will release upon you the grace to overcome in Jesus name. I decree that you will not faint nor be wearied in Jesus name. You can’t look unto someone you are not connected to, so to look unto Jesus you need to have a relationship with him by saying this simple prayer of salvation.

POSSESS BY THE SPIRIT OF FREEDOM (ABBA FATHER) PART 2: ROMAN 8:14-19, GALATIANS 4:1-7

Galatians 4:1(Now I say, that the heir, as long as he is child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; 2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. 3 Even so we, when we were children were in bondage under the elements of the world: 6 And because you are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, father).

This is a sequel to the first segment. We understand that at New birth the power that we need to grow into a son and daughter of God was given to us but we need to activate it (John 1:12). Power is given in increment and not one off thing because by redemption we are ordained to move from glory to glory by the spirit of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18). We need the spirit of the son of God which is the spirit of adoption to be able to call God our father, without the spirit of adoption the boldness to cry Abba father will not be there.  You are now joint heir with Christ (Romans 8:17). The scripture says that the heir as long as he remains a child cannot rule even though he is the master of all (Galatians 4:1). This means that our redemptive package cannot be accessible by us until our maturity is proof. Our father is not a murderer, he will not give us gift that will kill us or take us back into bondage. Rev 5:12(Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing). Our redemption came with benefits but it takes spiritual maturity to access it. The choice is ours to make, Jesus Christ has done his own part by purchasing them for us with his blood. All of them are ours from the beginning before Satan deceived Adam and Eve and stripped us off our inheritance.  Galatians 4:4-5, John 10:10(The thief cometh not, but to steal, and to kill and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly). It was very easy for Adam to hand over his inheritance to Satan in the Garden Eden without a fight because he got it without stress. God loves us so much that he sent his only son to the world in order to reconcile us with him and restore our inheritance back to us (John 3:16). Now that we have been reconciled with God, he would not want to lose us again, that’s the reason why we need spiritual development to lay hold on our inheritance. No promotion without an exam and you need to be a registered student to sit for an exam. Here is the good news, registration is still on going. Register into this school today by accepting Jesus and in case you have registered before and dropped out, you can always return just like the prodigal son and receive your welcome back package in Jesus name. Then find a bible believing church and abide, and begin to take classes. The exams will come as an instruction and only those who are committed and sensitive to the spirit will know. So be sensitive and open your heart. The race is an individual race. Your mother, father and uncle cannot run this race for you. You have to do it yourself. POSSESS BY THE SPIRIT OF FREEDOM (SPIRIT OF ADOPTION) PART 1: ROMANS 8:14-19

Romans 8:14(For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; buy ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, father).

When the spirit of adoption enters into you, the spirit of bondage will disappear because they cannot co-exist (John 1:5). The spirit of adoption is the spirit of love, the spirit of faith and the spirit of freedom. The spirit of freedom is light while the spirit of bondage on the other hand is darkness. Colossians 1:12(Giving thanks unto the Father which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear son). You are the light of the world and only the light is entitled to inheritance in this kingdom, darkness does not have part in your inheritance (Matthew 5:14). What the darkness does is to steal from children who do not have the knowledge of who they are in Christ (John 10:10). The Spirit of adoption is what makes us a bona fide son and daughter of the Almighty God and also grants us access to our inheritance in Christ Jesus. Only the son and daughter are entitled for inheritance in this kingdom. The spirit of fear is the spirit of bondage and the spirit of slavery. At New Birth you are delivered and set free from the spirit of bondage, that’s what freedom is all about. It takes time and nurturing for a child to grow into an adult. The same thing applies to our spiritual growth. When we give our life to Christ, we become the children of God and the race to become his daughters or sons begin. Our growth depends on our curiosity and ability to follow divine instruction. New birth is an agreement to enter into a relationship with God. It comes in the form of contractual agreement. There are terms and conditions attached to it. Which means you have a role to play and until your part is fulfilled there will be no certificate and you need a certificate to access your inheritance in Christ.  Find out what your role is and perform it. They are written in the perfect law of freedom (the bible). That’s why you need a teacher and this can only be found in the house of God.  Jeremiah 3:15(And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding). Follow spiritual principles, continue to learn and you will continue to grow. Follow them who through faith and patience obtained a good report (Hebrew 11:1-34). We have examples of Abraham, David, Joseph and Daniel in the bible and many more. My father in the Lord Bishop David Oyedepo is a typical example in our generation today and so many of them out there, you just have to find where you belong and abide.  John 15:4 (Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except you abide in me). There is a need for you to be established in faith and in the church so that you can bear fruit. (John 1:12) It takes power to grow into a son and daughter and this power is already inside us. Only those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God (Romans 8:14). Friends, here is another opportunity to become a son and daughter of God, make this decision today and set yourself free in Jesus name.

LOOSE THEM AND SET YOURSELF FREE: MATTHEW 18:21-34

Matthew 6:12(And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 14 For if we forgive men their trespasses your heavenly father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses neither will your Father forgive your trespasses).

Unforgiveness is a sin and it can slow down our journey. You can’t gain your freedom while locking others in the prison of your heart. Our heart is a connecting link between us and God. If we imprison those who offend us in our heart God will not have a space in there and we need his presence in our lives to fulfill destiny.  Forgiveness is a therapy. It works more than medicine and prayer. Holding on to offence makes one sad and a joyful person does not accommodate grudges. Proverb 11:22 says (A merry heart doeth good like medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones). As you are asking God for your freedom check your life and see if there is anyone you are holding in your heart. The scripture cannot be broken. Forgiveness is a requirement for our prayer to be answered. It is a necessity if freedom is what we really desire. Jesus Christ taught us in the Lord’s Prayer to forgive others so that our heavenly father can forgive us our sin. We all know that we are not perfect. For we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), that’s what makes forgiveness a prerequisite for our freedom. Mathew 18:21(Then came Peter to him and said lord how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times? 22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, until seven times: but until seventy times seven). The wicked servant who refused to forgive his colleague after his master forgave him all his debt was cast into hell (Mathew 18:23-34). That’s the price of unforgiveness, it hinders our prayer and our advancement in life. Freedom and forgiveness work together. If you want to be free from satanic prison or want your prayer to be answered, you need to do the right thing. Free others and your own freedom will be guaranteed. It is not every problem or sickness that requires prayer. Some require a genuine forgiveness of the wrong that others have done to you and boom you will be set loose. Some people did not just have one person in the prison; they have locked up many people in their heart. This can actually cause heart problems. It is a burden that you don’t need to carry. Please let them go. You may say, it is turf, but if God continues to count our wrong we will not be alive today. It takes a compassionate heart to forgive. Ask God to baptize you with the spirit of love. Only the dead cannot be hurt, as long as you live, offence will definitely come. Which means offence is an inevitable occurrence; nobody is worthy enough to stand on your way up because of offence except you don’t desire greatness and you don’t need to go to hell because of someone. I see you receiving your healing and freedom today in Jesus name. It takes a genuine repentance for our sin to be forgiven (1 John 1:8-9).

LAY IT ASIDE (FREE YOURSELF FROM THIS BURDEN)

Hebrews 12:1(Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us and let run with patience the race that’s set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross despising the shame and is set down at right hand of the throne of God)

Sin is a weight and it can slow down our movement in the journey of destiny. If destiny is a race, that means we can’t run fast if we continue to labor under the weight of sin. At the end of every race prizes are awarded to the winners. We all have a common enemy called Satan, he is the father of sin and he does not want us to win this race of destiny. Thank God we have an example in Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. He defeated Satan despite all his experience and tricks. He is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God interceding for us, so that we also can win the race. John 14:30(Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh and hath nothing in me) the scripture recorded that he was tempted several times but yet he did not sin. He knows how we feel and how difficult it is to overcome this thing called sin. Hebrews 4:15(For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are yet without sin). God himself said we should look unto Jesus, which means as long as we fixed our eyes on him we cannot stumble. We need to follow his footsteps.  Sin is a burden that needs to be laid down at the feet of Jesus. He has granted us permission to drop them for him. Matthew 11:28(Come unto me, all ye that labor and are of heavy laden and I will give you rest).  Jesus paid the price for our sin at the cross of Calvary with his blood, so laboring under the same sin is paying double the price for the same item or product. The day he replaces Barabbas on the cross, is the same day, the same hour that he took our place too. That’s why anytime we ask for mercy and forgiveness, he will just tell the father, remember I took her place; have mercy (Matthew 27:20). The scripture says my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). At the mountain of temptation, Jesus Christ defeated Satan by the word of God. We need to imbibe ourselves in the word of God.  We all have sin and fall short of the glory of God. Sin reduces our glory and it is the glory of God on any man that brings about greatness (Romans 3:23).  We don’t assume to be saints; it will be a big mistake to do that. In the Lord’s Prayer, he said forgive us our sin as we forgive those who have sin against us (Matthew 6:12). We need to be conscious of our sin so that the enemy will not take advantage of our ignorance. No assumption, that’s the only way to overcome sin. It is free, all we have to do is to open our mouth and confess it. It is that simple. 1 John 1:8-9(If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness).

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION: ZECHARIAH 4:6

ZECHARIAH 4:6(Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, this is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts)

I want to use this opportunity to welcome all my readers to this great New Year in Jesus name. A year that’s full of promise. How do we make the best out of this great year knowing that time is not anyone’s friend? Since we cannot pause time, what we do from the beginning of the year is very important because it sets a stage for our testimonies at the end of the year.  Thank God for last year, it was a wonderful year, many are in the grave but we made it, we give God the glory. Don’t dwell on the disappointment of last year; it is gone, what you do with the opportunity that God has given to you to see this year is more important now. Life is a race and you have another chance to start the race of this year.

Making a New Year's resolution is a good thing because he who fails to plan has registered automatically in the school of failure but that will not be you again in Jesus name. If a particular issue keeps resurfacing in your do away list every year, that’s exactly where the setback is coming from and it needs to be dealt with once and for all. Most importantly as we make our New Year’s resolution let not forget to make God our number one priority. I call it divine lobby. Matthew 6:33(But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you). Every year, we keep making New Year’s resolutions that never see the light of the next day, forgetting it is not by power nor by might but by the spirit of God.  It is a good thing that we recognize the need to change levels but the change should begin with our mentality. Our mentality towards God and life need to be examined. If we keep doing things the same way, we will continue to have the same result. You have used all you know long enough and your situation is still the same; it is never too late to try something else. There is always a room for improvement even if you think you are on the right track.  To sustain our vow and to get a desired result, we need the help of the Holy Spirit, especially in those aspects of our life that keep resurfacing in our list every year. If I were you I will put all my energy in it as you take it to God in prayer and fasting. Matthew 17:21(Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting). It is a stubborn situation that has made itself a stumbling block for your forward movement. Don’t watch and see it ruin your plan this year again. You have been trying to use your own power and it’s very frustrating believe me because I have been there and I know exactly how it feels. The good news is that your freedom has finally come in Jesus' name. I don’t know what your own issues are. It may be health challenge, addiction, set back, promotion, attitudinal problem. They are not too much for God to handle. He is waiting for you to call him for help. Make up your mind that you want a change, and then present your list to God in prayer and fasting. The grace you need will be released to you speedily in Jesus name. The first step is salvation if you are not yet saved. If you are once saved and backslide you can reconnect. John 1:12(But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name). In conclusion you need power to become whatever you desire this year and that power lies on God who can change any situation. Align yourself with God and you will have a change of story in Jesus name.

YOU ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST: 1 CORINTHIANS 12

1 Corinthians 12:14(For the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot shall say, because I am not the hand, I am not the body; is therefore not of the body? 26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it. 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and a members in particular). Romans 7:4(Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God).

As a believer, you are the body of Christ. Salvation makes you part of his body which means whatever affects you also affects him. This is so sweet and relieving because knowing that whoever troubles me troubles Jesus and makes me so powerful. No wonder, Galatian 6:17 says, (From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus). As part of his body, Christ has put a mark of exception on each part of his body and the mark is to keep the enemies far away from us. What the enemies do is to try very hard to remove the mark in order to attack us. Please don’t allow him because you are not ignorant of his devices. This seal was put upon every individual at new birth when we give our life to Christ; it is called the seal of the Holy Spirit. If it is called the seal of the Holy Spirit this means that it requires holiness to maintain. Ephesians 1:13(In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise). 2 Thessalonians 1:6(Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you). God said that he will trouble anyone that troubles us and your enemies know this too that’s why they want to get you out of your safe zone so that they can attack you. Another outstanding benefit of being a member of his body is that whatever pain you feel he feels it too and will see to it that you are well. If your hand is paining you, won’t you go and take care of it? That is how it is between us and Jesus. Being part of his body is the safest place to be in this wicked world. Your child is part of your body that’s why when it is time for you to pick her from school, you don’t forget because your heart will always be there. If we as humans feel this way, how much more our heavenly father feels. Jesus said if you have seen him you have seen the father, so it is with us that anyone that sees us has seen Jesus us also. That’s why we are called Christians. You may ask, Nene, how can I maintain my seal or to get the seal. To maintain your seal you need to bear good fruit because God will cut off any part of the body of Christ that bears no fruit (John 15:1-2). To be part of his body, you need to accept him as your Lord and savior.
