OVERCOMING TEMPTATION: PART 1

James 1:12(Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him).

To overcome temptation one needs to have a clear definition of his or her goal. Is it what fighting for or do you want to sell your birthright like Esau who could not endure hunger for a second? The bible said that he despises his birthright because of food and God collected it and gave it to Jacob. Genesis 25:32(Esau said behold I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? 33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink and rose up and went his way; thus Esau despised his birthright). If you fall into temptation you have just despised your crown, your glorious destiny. And God hates those who despise what he generously gave them. Temptation is the time for you to choose between God and Satan. Whatever decision you make during that period shows who you love. It is a test of love. The promise of the crown of life is for those who love God; it is for those who choose him in that crucial time of trial. God rewards those who seek him diligently and he will reward all your acts of royalty in Jesus name (Hebrews 11:6). 1 Corinthians 2:9(But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him). Those who overcome temptation are those that love God. It is the love of God in our heart that empowers us to overcome temptation and pass every trial. In every temptation lies our crown and enthronement; so don't hate temptation, pray to overcome it except you want to remain in one position. The bible says blessed is the man that endures temptation; temptation is meant to be endured because it is not going to be forever; it is just for a moment. Temptation does not kill anyone, instead it provides an avenue for our promotion if we endure. The bible said we are tempted with our lust (James 1:13-15). Which is very true because it is not temptation if it is not something you really desire, but it is an abomination unto the Lord. It is what God does not like that you will be tempted with. Temptation can be defined in my own term as a test of your love for God. Remember God does not tempt anyone; the devil is the tempter, he is the accuser of the brethren. Those who overcame said they don’t want to offend God. For example: Jesus was tempted with food when he was hungry. Devil offer him power when he went to seek for empowerment (Matthew 4:1-11); Joseph was tempted with sex when he was alone with his master's wife and the bible said he was full of age and good looking (Genesis 3:1-16).  At that age his hormone will be yearning for things like that but he had it under control and he was enthroned. To overcome temptation you need to soak yourself in the word of God. Jesus remembers what the word of God said concerning what the devil was offering him. Joseph remembers what the word of God said concerning what the devil was offering him. Daniel refused to eat King’s delicacy because it was not lawful for him to eat such food, he refused to defile himself and God gave him favor and also promoted him in that same kingdom (Daniel 1:1-17); he chose to be in the side God, and God showed up for him. Friends as you make up your mind to choose God today He will give you grace to overcome temptation in Jesus name.  So we can also say that temptation is the devil offering you an alternative or something contrary to the word of God. May you receive grace to stand against him in Jesus name. The bible says that they that overcome receive their crown you are the next in line to receive your crown in Jesus name. No promotion without an exam in this kingdom, so receive grace to pass your next level exam in grant style.  From now henceforth when you see temptation know that promotion is on the way and get set to defeat the enemy of your promotion. 1 Corinthian 10:13(There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it). You are an overcomer because greater is he that is in you than the devil (1 John 4:4). What you need to overcome temptation has been deposited in you at new birth. Say to yourself, I can do it. What God has in stock for me is far better than what the devil is offering me now. What he is offering me now is a distraction to my throne and I refuse to be distracted because I know who I am. The bible said that in every temptation God also makes way for us to escape. You shall escape in Jesus name. If the greater one is not inside you, the tempter will continue to have you for lunch; that’s why it is very important to choose where your loyalty lies. Jesus says without him we can do nothing; here is an opportunity to have him inside you in case you have not, by praying this salvation prayer below.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today, I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself, forgive me my sins, and cleanse me with your precious blood. Deliver me from sin and Satan to serve the living God. Lord Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and savior. Now I know I am Born Again, Amen.

OVERCOMING SATANIC DECEPTION

1 Peter 5:8(Be sober be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour). James 4:7(Submit yourselves therefore to God. resist the devil and he will flee from you).

In the journey of destiny; we are meant to encounter many oppositions; it is part of our adventures here on earth; but as a redeemed child of God we are ordained to overcome all opposition. 1 John 4:4(Ye are of God little children and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world). We have only one opposition which is Satan. He is the ancient deceiver and has mastered all his strategies for many years; the greatest mistake that any believer can make is to take him for granted. The scripture did not say we should ignore him; he said we should be vigilant and submit ourselves to God. The bible said we should look unto Jesus who has defeated him for us and to align ourselves with him in order to enjoy our victory over the devil. Hebrews 12:2(Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God). The bible did not say we should listen to him or dialogue with him; he is a trickster. The mistake Eve made was to be chatting with Satan and many are still making that same mistake today. Satan will not tempt you with what you don’t want; he will always come with your desire in order to rope you in. Many have listened to him and he has successfully converted them. If you are in a hurry to get to your destination and can’t wait for the leading of God, Satan will come with an alternative and it will look so good but they are all deception. The forbidden fruit looks so good and his advice to Eve seems reasonable (Genesis 3:1-24). That’s what he is still doing today, he will argue and argue until he weighs his target down, that’s why it is dangerous to go into argument with him or any of his agents if you don’t have the knowledge of the word like Jesus, please stay away. The word of God is our weapon against his deception. Eve has the word but she did not engage with it but Jesus Christ used the word to chase him away (Matthew 4:1-11). Matthew 4:3(And when the tempter came to him he said, if thou be the Son of God command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answer and said, it is written, man shall not live bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out the mouth of God). Joseph did not argue with Satan; he told her that he can’t do what she requested of him, he flew away and left his garment with her; that’s how he was able to make it to the throne (Genesis 39:11-12). When this ancient deceiver is after your destiny, you need to develop a wing to fly and learn how to fly on an eagle's wing. He is after your crown the same way he went after Adam and Eve’s crown and stole it from them. You are a child of destiny; you are here for a purpose. All these are examples for us to follow; Adam does not have an example but God was with him; we have an example and we have God in us, so it should be easy for us to defeat him. The throne is meant for the overcomers just like Joseph and the bible said that we have overcome; so friends, go ahead and enjoy your victory over Satan. To be a king is not a joking matter, you need to be serious minded.

He told Jesus to worship him but he recognized his voice immediately because Jesus Christ knows his true identity. The reason why many are missed led by Satan is because they don’t acquaint themselves with the manufacturers’ manual. Eve could not overcome him because she was busy walking around doing nothing in the garden; She did not acquaint herself with the instruction and that confirms the saying “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop” your mind will never be his workshop in Jesus name. Don’t give him room to chat with you. He is an experienced trickster, he will trick you; the best way to deal with him is to flee and rebuke his voice immediately; don’t reason with him. Eve was busy chatting with him, that's why he tricked her and stole the glory of man. He has not changed, he is still using the same trick, be wise and be vigilant. He has no other job; all he does is killing, stealing and destroying things all over the world (John 10:10). He loves blood. That's how he gets his strength: he turns people against each other; he is a busy body (Job 1:7). He is now in Ukraine killing and destroying properties; Putin the Russian president even named his weapon of destruction after Satan.  But my Jesus is awesome and wonderful, showing love to everyone who cares to invite him into their life. Satan can speak through people, he may not appear in his hideous form he tried to use Peter to stop Jesus from fulfilling his destiny, Jesus rebuked him immediately and said, get thee behind me Satan (Mathew 16:22-23). He didn’t want you to get to your destination; but you will get there in Jesus name. The decision to keep him far away from you is your hand. The bible said that you should be vigilant and submit yourself to God. In case you have done that; here is another opportunity to submit yourself to God by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior.

THE VOICE OF THE SHEPHERD VS THE VOICE OF A STRANGER

Matthew 4:9(And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve ).

This is a sequence to our last segment title “THE VOICE OF A STRANGER” in this segment by the help of the Holy Spirit we are going to be looking at the example of the two voices so that we can easily differentiate them and not fall a victim. Light and darkness have nothing in common; at the entrance of a great light every trace of darkness disappears (John 1:5). The voice of the shepherd teaches us how to obey and follow God’s leading; but the voice of a stranger will tell us to disobey God, his job is to turn people against God.  The only way to detect the voice of a stranger is to have the understanding of the voice of God through His word because His voice is behind every scripture. Know who your shepherd is and follow him; study him and understand how he operates and you will never be a victim of a strange voice in Jesus name. Jesus Christ introduces himself as the good shepherd and that’s all you need to know. John 10:11(I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd and know my sheep and am known of mine). We know Jesus by his voice and he knows us by our obedience and it is only by our obedience that he can intervene in our affairs. The voice of a stranger is the voice of Satan; his voice is behind every act of disobedience and his followers are called the children of disobedience. Ephesians 5:6(Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience). Here is the example of the voice of the Shepherd, his willingness to defend his flock to the point of death and if you are following him you can be rest assured of your safety. Our shepherd does not speak to instill fear on us but rather he speaks to give us hope and assurance (John 16:32). Because our shepherd has overcome we also have overcome (1 John 4:5); we are empowered to be a replica of our shepherd. He fulfilled all the promises that he made to his disciples, he never lied to his followers. His thought towards us is good and not evil, and as his children we are expected to make people see light in the order of our father (Jeremiah 29:11). John 17:12(While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled). He takes their place and negotiates their escape from those that came for him but Satan on the other hand will use his follower as a shield. John 18:8(Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore you seek me, let these go their way: 9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, of them which thou gavest me have I lost none). Satan is a user; when any of his servants is caught he will abandon them and go for another. He does not share in their punishment; he will never follow them to the prison nor take their place in death sentence. Jesus Christ rebuked him as soon as he detected his voice but Eve was reasoning and analyzing things with him. You command him to stay away from you, that's how to deal with him and don't do whatever he asks you to do, don't even put it into consideration. His voice is always contrary to what God is saying. He will tell you to pervert judgment and collect bribes. He will tell you that stealing is the perfect way to make it in life. He will tell you to do something bad and he teaches you how to cover up and when you are caught he will abandon you and flee. He knows the truth of God’s word but he will advise you, and encourage you and push you to do the contrary. See the scriptural example of his voice; Genesis 3:1 (Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said ye shall not eat every tree of the garden? 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil). The truth is, he is still using the same strategies on people today, and he has not changed which makes it easy for us to recognize and stay far away from him. Satan is an unrepentant bastard and he has been judged but as wicked as he has always been he didn’t want to suffer in hell alone, so he is out to draw as many as he can to himself but you will not be his companion in hell in Jesus name (John 16:11). Friends, I know for sure that you will make a decision to follow God and begin to obey him from today in Jesus name. The good news is that you can always retrace your steps and choose the right path in case you have not been following the Shepherd; His hand is wide open to receive you, so hurry up.

THE VOICE OF A STRANGER

John 10:5(And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. 7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but he sheep did not hear them.  I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly).

As we continue in this journey of destiny; every born again child of God is a citizen of heaven and speaks in the same mother tongue. We have the same identity and speak the same language; we are ruled by the King of the universe and governed by one doctrine. We are connected and controlled by God with a sensory device given to us as soon as we become a legitimate member of His family and the sensory device is the Holy Spirit; it is our common identity. We are the children of light and have only one approved citizenship manual; we are led by the voice of the spirit and every genuine citizen understands and recognizes the voice of God. The kingdom of darkness also has their language which is contrary to the language of the kingdom of God. For example; every Spanish Nation speaks Hispanic which is their mother tongue; If I don’t speak Hispanic, whatever they say will be like a noise to me and I am not supposed to react to it because as far as I am concerned they may be leading me to hell. If you don’t understand your mother tongue you can easily be deceived and manipulated by a stranger because every language will sound like it; and it can be very disastrous. If you are out of your country for a very long time you will definitely lose your mother tongue and begin to speak the language of a stranger. That’s why it is necessary to continue to abide in your city built for you by God.  2 Samuel 7:10(Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them anymore, as before time). The only way to maintain your mother tongue is to remain in fellowship with your country men; stay in Church. Any other language contrary to our mother tongue in this kingdom is strange and it is satanic and we are meant to stay away from it. The voice of a stranger is the voice of Satan; his language is strange to the ear of any true citizen of heaven and they are not meant to understand him nor follow him. The voice of a stranger is not a friendly voice; he is there to manipulate you and contradict everything that you represent. The voice of a stranger is an enemy of God and always trying to go against the plan and purpose of God in our life. The voice of a stranger scares believers because it does not give peace; it instills fear in his victim. The voice of a stranger deceives; it shows you the opposite of what he is telling you. The voices of a stranger will tell you lies and lead you astray. Give no room to him; don’t listen to him because he can be very intruding and loud. He is a fraudster and father of lies; his voice gives no hope; he speaks of destruction and all he is after is to steal your glory. Please stay away from him and give him no room to occupy. The voice of God gives a long lasting solution; it gives peace and assurance and a promise of a better result. The voice of God reproves and guides you through the right path; it shows you the end result from the beginning. The voice of God is a small steel voice and does not offend you. It nudges you quietly and gives you room to think and make a decision but the voice of a stranger will impose himself on you whether you like it or not. Those who speak the language will behave like their master; so the question is who is leading you and which language are you speaking? Your answer will determine your destination at the end of your journey. The good news is that Jesus Christ has differentiated the two languages in the book of (John 10:1-13). He is the door of the sheep and in him you can go in and out and to find pastures, which means you will have total freedom and never lack. But with strangers you will be in bondage and suffer affliction of different types but that will not be you in Jesus name. Friends, in case you are not yet a citizen of heaven; here is another opportunity to do so, by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior.
