Soul winners command a high level of spiritual authority because they are the true representative of God here on earth (2 Corinthians 5:20). Soul winners are territorial commanders and that give them access to the power of God (Luke 10:19). Authority and powers are provided for a purpose; God anointed Jesus and he went about doing good, healing the sick and delivering the oppressed (Acts 10:38). Jesus also gave his disciples power and authority to heal the sick and cast out all devils (Luke 9:1-2).
Let's try to understand the power and authority in this context. Power is the ability, or capacity, to carry out any task; it is the ability to influence people and control their behavior. In this context. Holy Ghost power is the compelling force that enables us to do things beyond our natural capacity. The Holy Spirit is that compelling force that allows a believer to do extraordinary things; he is the custodian of the power of God, and He distributes it to the individual according to their level of willingness. If there is a willing heart, the grace will come. Every employer will want to empower their loyal and resourceful employee to do more and to represent them well. And no country or Nation will send their armies to the enemy's camp without training and ammunition; in the same way, God will not send you and me out without empowerment. Luke 9:1 (Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick).
In this context, Authority is the legal right given to us by God to act on His behalf and to control things the same way He will do it. Authority is given to those who have earned God's trust based on their previous work with him. Authority is given in levels, and what you do with the one you are given will determine your next level of authority. A king without authority is not a king, and when a king gives you authority to act on his behalf, all his subjects will respect you the same way they will respect the king himself. You may have power but not have the authority to use that power in a particular situation or place. Authority is to dominate; that is, you are in total control; you will have it the way you want it.
Redemption has given some levels of authority, but to earn more, we need to prove that we are worthy. You cannot dominate territory without authority; as a soul winner, you are a territorial commander. Without authority, the enemy will mess you up; Jesus knew this, and that is why He gave all His representative authority to dominate.
Luke 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. 18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Our authority as a soul winner is the name of Jesus, for he said in my name you shall cast out the devil. The seventy disciples return to Jesus with joy, saying the cast out devil in the name of Jesus. We command authority through the name of Jesus; He gave us his name to use and command authority. Remember, he says that as the Father sends him, he has sent us. The name of Jesus is Jesus Christ himself. When we command any situation or challenge in the name of Jesus, the devil will not see us; he will see Jesus, he will hear the voice of Jesus, and they must obey. His name breaks chains and sets the captives free
So, when he sent the seventy evangelists, he gave them his name to use and do what he would do if he were present there with them; that is how powerful the authority in the name of Jesus is. Friends, Satan is supposed to fall anytime you mention the name of Jesus, but the reason he is still standing against your advancement is that you have not obeyed the commandment of soul-winning. Until you define your motive, the power you are looking for will not be given to you.
Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. 16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
Peter and John said that they did not heal the man by their power but by the authority in the name of Jesus. So, if you want to command signs and wonder through his name, the cheapest way to get it done is subscribe to a soul-winning commandment. We can't cut corners; we have to be truthful to ourselves. Every provision of the scriptures has responsibility attached to it. Friends, decide to start taking responsibility today, and you begin to have it the way you want. The first step to being enrolled in the armies of God is salvation; you need to say yes to Jesus as your Lord and saviour by praying this salvation prayer below and be blessed, in Jesus name.
Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins and accept You as my Lord and Saviour. I believe you died for me to make me a new man/woman. Forgive me all my sins, wash me with your blood, and give me a new heart. Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul. Now I believe I am born again. And I am a child of God. Amen!
