JESUS OVER EVERYTHING

Priority is very important to God in our relationship with Him; He cannot share His space and His glory with any man or anything. 

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Jesus over everything is a lifestyle; it is a choice to make the word of God our standard, which means everything we do should be in line with His word. If your action or decision is not in line with what His word is, you are not prioritising Him. The word of God is the manual for our life, and following it will lead to an abundant life. Jesus says that the thief came to steal and to destroy and to kill, that he has come for us to have everything back in abundance (John 10:10). The abundant life he is talking about is rooted in our ability to adhere to scriptural guidelines, so it is not a promise; it is a covenant, which means we have a role to play. If you are not weighing your actions to be in line with his word, living an abundant life will be a mirage.

Jesus over everything is a choice to set Jesus over the affairs of your life; that is, making him Lord over everything in your life by handing them over to him. It is a choice to live a righteous life; that is, to live a life that pleases God. He said Be ye holy because I am holy. Holiness is His identity, and we cannot please Him unless we choose holiness. If Jesus is not in us, we won't be able to please him, and for him to be present in our lives, we need to create a comfortable environment for him to operate, which is holiness. 

Jesus over everything is a choice to make Jesus number one in your life. That is, in everything you do, you choose Jesus first; that is, having the consciousness that God has to be comfortable with whatever you do, or how you relate to other people. By asking yourself this question before you do anything. How would Jesus feel? Would he be proud of my action? If Jesus were in my shoes, what would he have done in this situation? That is, you are comparing your life with his own to see if you are changing into his image (2 Corinthians 3:18). Your love for him should be the ultimate. He has to be the centre of everything. He does not want to be an afterthought. He wants us to set him over the affairs of life. He is not begging for that position; he earned it. He paid for it with his blood. Many are still struggling with the decision to make Jesus their Lord and saviour. Because when you say someone is your Lord, that makes him ruler over you and everything you have. 

Luke 14:25 And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, 26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. 27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

Jesus over everything is a decision to live a sacrificial lifestyle: you make yourself a living sacrifice. That means you are living, but you are no longer living for yourself. You can't make decisions without his approval; everything has to be in accordance with his principles and doctrine. You do things the way Jesus would if he were in your position. Your decision, your thinking, has to be around him.  

He made clear that He has to be the centre of everything; only then can we walk with Him. 

Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Friends, you are not losing anything by making him Lord over everything; instead, you are gaining a hundredfold reward for trusting him with everything. Friends, the first step towards this lifestyle is repentance; you need to tell him sorry for not focusing on him all this while, tell him that you are ready to hand over everything to him by praying this salvation prayer below, and be blessed in Jesus' name. Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins and accept You as my Lord and Saviour. I believe you died for me so that I could become a new man/woman. Forgive me all my sins, wash me with your blood, and give me a new heart. Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul. Now I believe I am born again. And I am a child of God. Amen!
