THE MENTORSHIP STYLE OF JESUS PART 3

THE QUALITY OF A GOOD MENTOR

There is a secret behind every success and the ability to learn and practice the secret of your mentor is what makes you a career giant and also a giant in the kingdom of God. Everything about the success of Jesus Christ is written in the bible but no one will force you to read it, it is your responsibility as a believer to study and follow the same steps and command the same exploit. John 14:12 (Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father). We are ordained to command exploit in order of Jesus.

Here we are going to discuss some of the qualities that make Jesus Christ a successful mentor so that we can follow the same in our mentorship journey.

  1. Passion: it is the drive that makes Jesus Christ a successful mentor and that is what makes him to lay his life down for his mentees. Your extraordinary love for God is proved by your love for your mentee. John 15:13 (Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends). Passion led him to lay down his life for his mentee he was not forced to do it. Passion is what makes people go the extra mile in their pursuit of God and their other endeavours. John 10:17 (Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father). You need to see your mentee the way God sees them, not the way you see them. Whenever they are in pain you are in pain also. You need to have ´by all means´ mentality; that is, your mentee must get it right no matter what happens. Jesus Christ never fails to let his mentees know how much he loves them and also communicate the right message from God to his mentees. He painted the picture of God the Father in their heart. Until your love for God gets to the level of passion you cannot be a successful mentor and mentee. You need a kingdom priority lifestyle, that is everything about the kingdom is number one in your agenda (Matthew 6:33). seeing your mentorship assignment as a business transaction between you and God with profit in view (Matthew 19:27-29, Philippians 3:14).

  2. Meekness: Both mentor and mentee are required to be humble because only the humble God will lead and also teach his way. Psalm 25:9 (The meek will guide in judgement: and the meek will teach his way). The reason people don't want to mentor you is because of your proud demeanour. And you refuse to mentor others because you see yourself above them and you fail to understand that you cannot mentor your equal in knowledge. Jesus Christ made himself of no reputation; he took a place of servant in order to make his mentees comfortable and gain their trust and attention. Philippians 2:7 (But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross). The job is not about you, it is about the kingdom of God so quit elevating yourself and be humble. Moses was described by God as the most humble that ever lived; he even asked God to remove his name from the book of life and save his mentees. He was a good coach and trainer and a teacher.

  3. He considered mentorship as a work; he saw it as a full time career job. 17:4 (I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do). He said to God that he has finished the work that he gave him to do. Seeing your spiritual mentorship as a job will give you a sense of responsibility and accountability. It is high time we quit using a casual approach when it comes to the things of God. If your mentee fails in their journey, you are going to be held accountable by God. Luke 16:2 (And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward).

  4. TO BE CONTINUE IN THE NEXT SERIES, PLEASE KEEP FOLLOWING AND BE BLESSED IN JESUS NAME

The above listed are some of the qualities that make Jesus Christ an outstanding leader and a mentor and for us to command the same result we need to look unto him and do the same (Hebrew 12:2). He said that we are empowered to more than him (John 14:12). To be like Jesus, you need to accept him as your Lord and saviour by praying this salvation prayer below.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today, I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself, forgive me my sins, and cleanse me with your precious blood. Deliver me from sin and Satan to serve the living God. Lord Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and saviour. Now I know I am Born Again, Amen.
