WITHSTANDING THE STORM OF LIFE

Storm is an inevitable part of our journey as we continue to move forward in life; it comes with so much noise and distraction and the agenda is to slow you down. The storm of life has a paralytic effect on its victim and it can disorganise even the elect if care is not taken.  Wind is a natural occurrence and when it is time for it to blow there is nothing anyone can do about it; the only thing we can do as individuals is to prepare ourselves against it. Those who study the weather do not assure you of diverting the hurricane they will only tell you the direction it is going to go and also advise you to relocate for safety and prepare for the disaster. With the new technologies in place many have tried but they all fail.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Your understanding of the word of God is what will keep you standing in the time of storm. In this journey, the storm will come and the wind will blow; it is your responsibility to prepare yourself ahead of the wind. As a child of God, your preparation against the storm of life lies in your level of understanding of the word of God. In this kingdom it is to you according to the level of your understanding; your result cannot supersede your understanding. When others run helter-skelter, you will stand like a rock that cannot be moved. Jesus Christ the master wise builder himself has given us strategies to withstand the storm of life; he did not say the storm will not blow but taught us how to withstand the storm. Your faith is what will stop the storm of life from having an effect on you; without faith it is impossible to stand the test of time. Romans 10:17 (So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God).

Mark 4:38 (And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?)

Some of the things about the storm that you may want to know are as follows:  it will hit you, it will encircle you and you will hear the noise, you will feel it and you will see the effect on others but it may not affect you if you are standing on the rock which is Jesus Christ in you, your hope of glory. The storm has an intimidating effect but not on you because you have the one who controls the storm inside of you. Friends, note that the disciples were in the boat with Jesus and the storm still hit them. The storm has no respect and, that is the more reason you need to build up your faith by trusting God completely.

During the time of the hurricane, those whose buildings are designed to withstand the storm will not bother themselves; they will be sleeping while others are running helter-skelter; just like Jesus. They will become a refuge for those who are looking for safety but they can only accommodate a few. In the case of Jesus; he can calm the storm if you allow him into your life; he is the prince of peace; he will teach you what you need to withstand the storm and keep moving forward.

John 16:33 (These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world). You cannot be of good cheer during the storm if you have no Faith and you cannot trust someone you have no relationship with. Friends, here is an opportunity to be on the same boat with Jesus and learn how to defeat the storm of life by praying this salvation prayer below.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today, I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself, forgive me my sins, and cleanse me with your precious blood. Deliver me from sin and Satan to serve the living God. Lord Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and saviour. Now I know I am Born Again, Amen.
