OVERCOMING YOUR PAST

Philippians 3:13-14(brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus)

As a believer, we really need to let go of the past if we must experience breakthrough. The reason why some are still in bondage is not necessarily because they have not been delivered it is simply because they are holding unto what is no longer there. The only way to release ourselves from the bondage of the past is to be conscious of our new identity in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says (Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new). John 8:36 says (If the Son therefore shall make you free ye shall be free indeed). We all have past that we are not proud of, but due to the knowledge of God we acknowledge our wrong and have been set free through faith in Jesus Christ. You are no longer the same person; you are now a brand new person; that is the beauty of a new birth. If you don’t lose yourself from the shackles of your past and walk in the consciousness of your new identity the enemy will take advantage of your ignorance to hold you back. Hosea 4:6a says (My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge). That will no longer be you in Jesus name. John 8:32(And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free). Jesus Christ the truth has set you free; don’t allow lies of Satan to hold you back. Apostle Paul wouldn’t have achieved much if he held on to his past. He was the persecutor of Christians in the early church before he was called to preach the same gospel that he was once against. Another good example is the Samaritan woman. She became a woman Evangelist in the same city where everyone knows her ugly past. That’s the attitude of a champion. Don’t let him use you against yourself. Keep meditating on your new identity, that’s the only way you can succeed in life. Joshua 1:8(This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success). You are a chosen generation; you are a royal personality ordained to rule over any situation. 1 peter 2:9(But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light). Move forward for the prize of your high calling. As many that believed and received him, he gave them power to become the sons of God (John 1:12). If you have not received Jesus as your Lord and savior, here is another opportunity. Lord Jesus, I come to you today, I am a sinner, and cannot help myself, forgive me my sins, cleanse me with your precious blood. Deliver me from sin and Satan to serve the living God. Lord Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and savior. Now I know I am Born Again, Amen
